Super Eagles Held by Jordan in Heated Friendly Draw

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Jordan in an international friendly that delivered goals, drama, and a late moment of controversy.

Jordan struck first in the 17th minute when Mousa Al Tamari curled in a superb free kick, leaving goalkeeper Francis Uzoho with no chance as the ball nestled into the net.

The Super Eagles responded with urgency, finding their equalizer just nine minutes later. Moses Simon produced a composed finish, volleying home with his left foot in the 26th minute to bring Nigeria level.

Nigeria continued to press and were rewarded before halftime. Emmanuel Fernandez calmly slotted the ball home in the 40th minute after a well-worked attacking move, giving the visitors a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

Jordan returned for the second half with renewed determination and eventually found their equalizer in the 77th minute. Mohammed Al Dawoud capitalized on a slick team buildup, finishing from a tight angle to make it 2-2.

The closing moments of the match turned tense. In the 90th minute, Alex Iwobi was fouled while attempting to complete a pass, sparking visible frustration. The midfielder reacted by pushing his opponent, which quickly escalated into a confrontation involving players and staff from both teams.

The referee responded by issuing a straight red card to Iwobi, adding a sour note to an otherwise entertaining encounter.

Despite the late drama, both sides demonstrated attacking quality and resilience in a match that will be remembered as much for its intensity as for its goals.
