FIFA Ranking: Super Falcons end 2022 as Africa’s best women’s national team

Nigeria women’s national team remained unmoved on the final FIFA Rankings for women’s football teams for 2022.
The Super Falcons maintained its 45th position in the world with 1537.65 points ahead of South Africa following the latest rankings released by Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on Friday.
The nine-time African champions solidified its top spot in Africa despite surrendering the African title to South Africa earlier this year with a fourth-placed finish at Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2022).
Randy Waldrum side qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup as one of four automatic teams from Africa alongside South Africa, Morocco, and Zambia.
African Champions, Banyana Banyana also maintained its 54th position and second in Africa with 1462.12 points.
Cameroon and Ghana occupy the third and fourth positions in Africa respectively with 58th and 59th positions in the world. Ivory Coast dropped to the 65th position in the world but retained its fifth spot in Africa.
Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Zambia complete Africa’s top team-ranked women’s football teams.
The next rankings might have some changes with the final FIFA Women’s World Cup slots to be decided early next year with the Playoffs Tournament in New Zealand.
