Imo State FA boss Uchegbulam calls on indigenes to take over football administration

By: Monsurah Olatunji

Chairman of the Imo State Football Association (IMFA) Amanze Uchegbulam has declared his seat available for passionate indigenes willing to run the affairs of the state football association.
The long-serving chairman was a former first Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and had ran the football affairs of Imo State from the 90s before stepping aside in 1999 and returning to the wheel in 2005.
Uchegbulam also served for years as a member of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Disciplinary Committee and was part of the group with the late Chief Oyuki Obaseki and former NFF President, Alhaji Sani Lulu, who fought for the autonomy of the Nigeria Professional Football League and extracted it out of the NFF since 2005.
However, he has now revealed his intention not to contest in the forthcoming Congress scheduled for May 2023.
Therefore, he calls on Imo State indigenes with a passion for football administration and good networking capacity in business to come forward and run the next board of the association.
During his tenure, the state FA secured office space and ensured a continuous organization of the state league without Government funding amongst numerous other strides made by the state in football.
“I have put in my best starting from the 1990s stepping aside in 1999 and returning in 2005. So, I am inviting our people to come forward and be part of the State Football Association.
“Elective Congress will hold in May and it is my appeal to Imo people who have the interest and passion for football administration to come forward. We need those who can use their reach in the business community to join hands to take football in the state to new heights.”
