Injury: Sadiq Umar unsure of return date after over seven months on sidelines
By Saheed Afolabi
Real Sociedad forward, Sadiq Umar is uncertain of his return from injury after seven months on the sidelines.
The Nigeria forward has been out of action since September 2022 after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in a league game which ruled him out of the season.
The towering forward made the switch to Real Sociedad from UD Almeria in the summer of 2022 after having a tremendous season with the latter club.
The Super Eagles striker bears his frustration after his long stay in rehab, while still unsure of his return date.
“I’ve been working in the gym for seven months. To be honest, it’s not an easy situation to accept being in the same routine for so long, but I had to do it to come back stronger,” Umar was quoted by BSN Sports.
“I’m still on the fringes of the team, the recovery time is usually between seven and nine months, but I can’t say when I’ll be back.”
Despite missing their summer recruit from Almeria, Real Sociedad are having a terrific season as they are ranked fourth on the Spanish Laliga table with 54 points from 30 games.
