Women’s World Cup: Super Falcons need our support, says Peter Edibi

By Saheed Afolabi
FIFA retired referee, Peter Edibi has backed Nigerians to support its women football team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Following a superb performance in holding Olympic champions, Canada to a goalless draw in the first game, the Super Falcons have been tipped not to loose focus.
The former arbiter was delighted with the Super Falcons’ performance against the Canadians as he urged them to keep the fire burning and never loose concentration.
“At the World Cup level, there is no easy match. The girls showed the right fighting spirit. Even as they were reduced to 10 players, they held on for a draw,” Edibi told Daily Trust.
“I believe if they are able to maintain the same fighting spirit, they will not crash out at the group stage. I think what they need now is concentration and the much needed support from all Nigerians.”
The return of dynamic Rasheedat Ajibade and combative midfielder, Halimatu Ayinde will further reinforce the Falcons with the valuable edge against the Aussies on July 27.
