ADO Den Haag Successfully Retains Star Defender Tyrone Ebuehi Amidst European Interest

Dutch Eredivisie club ADO Den Haag has expressed its delight and relief at successfully retaining the services of Super Eagles defender Tyrone Ebuehi and Nasser El Khayati, despite reported interest from other clubs during the January transfer window.

In a recent report by Omroepwest.nl, officials from the Hague-based club conveyed their satisfaction at maintaining their full squad, particularly after Tyronne’s anticipated move to Benfica faced complications. Ebuehi has showcased an impressive performance in ADO’s colors this season, earning recognition as one of the top five right-backs in the Dutch Eredivisie according to a poll conducted last December.

The 21-year-old’s attacking style drew interest from notable European clubs such as Anderlecht, Olympiakos, Benfica, and Norwich City, with Benfica showing significant intent. However, negotiations between the Portuguese giants and ADO failed to materialize, ensuring that the Super Eagles right-back remains in Holland for the time being.

While Benfica is expected to renew their pursuit of the young Nigerian in the summer, ADO Den Haag celebrates the continuation of Ebuehi’s contributions to the squad. His contract with the club is set to expire at the end of the season.

Ebuehi, who made a notable cameo appearance for Nigeria in an international friendly against Argentina, has set his sights on securing a spot in the Super Eagles squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Despite being part of the squad that secured Nigeria’s sixth World Cup spot, he is yet to win a competitive match Super Eagles cap, with all his appearances coming in friendly matches.
