Bartholomew Ogbeche Propels Willem II to Dutch Cup Semi-Finals with Penalty Heroics
Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche showcased his scoring prowess, leading Willem II to a thrilling victory over Roda in the quarter-finals of the Dutch Cup. The encounter ended 2-2 after 120 minutes, with Willem II emerging triumphant 5-4 on penalties on Thursday night.
Ogbeche’s impactful performance saw him finding the net in the 39th minute, canceling out Simon Gustafson’s earlier 37th-minute penalty for Roda. The match remained tightly contested, with Donis Avdijaj putting Roda ahead 2-1 in the 48th minute, only for Konstantinos Tsimikas to level the score at 2-2 in the 62nd minute.
With neither team able to secure a decisive winner during regulation time and extra-time, the thrilling clash was ultimately decided by a penalty shootout. Ogbeche once again rose to the occasion, scoring as Willem II secured a 5-4 victory on penalties.
