‘A dream come true’ – Nigeria striker Uchenna Kanu reacts to Racing Louisville switch

Nigeria forward, Uchenna Kanu has described her move to the United State of America’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as a dream come true.
The former Sevilla player joined Racing Louisville from Mexican Champions, UANL Tigres in a record $150,000 deal last week, signing a two-year contract with Racing with an option for the 2025 season.
Following the switch from the Mexican outfit, the Super Falcons star is recounting her potential return to the United States of America, where she shown at the University level.
“Playing professional football in America for an undrafted player like me is a dream come true. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and look forward to be wearing lavender and mint,” Kanu told Racing Louisville website.
“Knowing how much effort it took for Racing to sign me, I couldn’t be more excited to give it back to the club, ownership, staff, and fans.”
The former Linkopings FC player helped Tigres to the 2022 Mexican Liga MX Femenil’s Torneo Apertura title as she scored 23 goals in 38 appearances for Tigres during her two seasons with the Mexican side.
Before her time in Mexico, Kanu impressed in Sweden’s Damallsvenskan, tallying 22 goals in 42 matches over two years with Linköpings FC. She also spent part of the pandemic-impacted 2019-20 season in Spain with Sevilla FC, making six appearances for the Spanish club.
At international level, Kanu has scored 15 goals in 22 games for the nine-time African champions.
