EFCC Arrests Fake Football Agent Over Alleged ₦11 Million Scam

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Benin Zonal Directorate, have arrested one Osagie Destiny Etinosa over an alleged ₦11 million fraud.

According to a statement released by the commission, the suspect was apprehended through open-source intelligence. He had allegedly been posing on Instagram via the handle @officialking_etto as a football agent, claiming to specialize in connecting players with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment opportunities.

The EFCC revealed that in one reported case, Etinosa allegedly collected ₦11,000,000 from Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, promising to secure trial opportunities with clubs in Romania and Bulgaria. However, the trials never materialized, and all attempts by the victim to recover the funds were unsuccessful.

The commission stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court soon.
