Abdu Maikaba laments Enugu Rangers’ profligacy after Lobi Stars draw

By Wale Mustapha
Enugu Rangers head coach, Abdu Maikaba has expressed displeasure over his side’s 1-1 draw with Lobi Stars in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League encounter at Awka City Stadium.
After a goalless draw, the Markudi Bombers gained their lead through substitute Elijah Ani on the hour mark after heading in a cross from Washima Pine but Godwin Obaje rescued the Flying Antelopes 12 minutes later from defeat.
Despite creating numerous chances, the 2016 champions slipped at home and the former Akwa United manager considered the result was painful, adding that it didn’t reflect the performance of his team.
“We have to blame ourselves for this result, in a game, we created over ten goal-scoring opportunities and scored only one while the opponent created one and scored from it,” Maikaba told media.
“It is our problem but we are working seriously to see that we rectify all these issues, we can continue to fight from this result and continue to improve in coming games to ensure that we move up on the log.”
The result keeps Rangers on seventh in Group B log with 13 points from 12 games. The Flying Antelopes will be taking on Sunshine Stars at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday for the Matchday 13.
