In a poignant conclusion to his tenure with Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta, Super Eagles defender Shehu Abdullahi bid an emotional farewell, marked by tears and a standing ovation from both fans and officials. During the league match, Abdullahi, bestowed with the captain’s armband in recognition of his commendable service to the club, showcased his prowess by converting a penalty in the 59th minute, contributing to Anorthosis Famagusta’s 3-1 victory. The emotional scene unfolded post-game, with Abdullahi being enveloped by his teammates, bidding him farewell with profound hugs. Having joined Anorthosis from Portuguese club Uniao da Madeira in 2016, Abdullahi amassed an impressive record of 48 appearances for the club, finding the net three times. On the international stage, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s home-based team that clinched third place at the African Nations Championship in South Africa 2016, and he was also a member of the U-23 Eagles side that secured a bronze medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
