Adamawa Queens’ Jacob Vandi satisfied with draw against ‘tough’ Confluence Queens
By Wale Mustapha
Adamawa Queens head coach Jacob Vandi was satisfied with the team’s performance against ‘difficult’ Confluence Queens on Wednesday afternoon and he was full of praise for his players’ fantastic display.
The Yola based ladies brought an end to Whyte Ogbonda’s side four-match winning streak as the two teams played out a 0-0 draw in their penultimate Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership tie at the Confluence Stadium.
After earning their first away point, the former Adamawa United captain lauded his side for sticking to the match plan and feels the positive result guaranteed his side’s topflight safety this current season.
“They [Confluence Queens] played fine, they played according to instructions because its away match we only needed to keep the ball, maintain the shape and defend very well,” Vandi told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“We don’t need to score a goal as we knew it might be difficult, with our position on the table we just needed to defend and get a draw that will see us save our status and we are happy it worked for us.
“We are safe now, no threat about relegation for us, we just need to go back home and start working on our last match at home which we want to win even though its going to be a tough game.
“I’m proud of this team, its relatively a young team with players that have not experienced playing at this level before, I’m sure we will get better by next season.”
