Ademola Lookman bags Atalanta’s Player of the Season award

Nigeria international, Ademola Lookman has been named La Dea’s player of the season after an impressive display in the 2022/23 campaign.

The Super Eagles star becomes the first Nigerian player to win the Player of the Season Award in Atalanta’s history.

The 25-year-old who joined the club last summer from RB Leipzig for €9.2million picked up an award in his debut season as he makes every penny spent on him count.

Lookman had an outstanding debut campaign with Atalanta netting 15 goals and eight assists in 33 games for the La Dea in all competitions last season.

The forward scored on his debut and was even in the race for the golden boot before falling off in February.

Nonetheless, he finished as the club’s top scorer with 13 league goals and eight assists.

However, his brilliance could only help the club to a 6th-place finish in the Serie A.

The club has now announced on its official social platforms that Lookman has won the award beating Liverpool-linked Teun Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon.
