AFCON 2023: Ademola Lookman’s father reacts to son’s success in Nigeria colours

Ademola Lookman’s father has expressed his confidence in Nigeria to win the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Mr Lookman was in the stands to watch his son inspire the Super Eagles to a narrow 1-0 win against Angola in the quarterfinals on Friday night. His 26-year-old son has been one of Nigeria’s most outstanding performers in Cote d’Ivoire with three goals and one assist in five matches so far.
Speaking after the match, the emotional dad highlighted the pride of the family in seeing Ademola representing Nigeria.
“It’s an understatement if I say I’m happy, I’m overwhelmed,” Lookman’s dad said in a video posted on X.
“I am so happy, at least for Nigeria winning this game because it’s an advantage for us and gives us the drive to play the next and win it.
“And we are going to win, I want to assure you that.”
The Atalanta forward has represented England from under-19 to under-21 levels before pledging his international allegiance to Nigeria on February 10, 2022.
He went on to make his debut on the 25th of the following month, in their scoreless draw against Ghana in the third round of the African qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup which they failed to qualify.
