By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria defender, Bruno Onyemaechi is targeting an outright victory for his side when they face hosts, Cote d’Ivoire in the second group match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Abidjan on Thursday.
The three-time African kings made an unimpressive start to their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Eqautorial Guinea and will seek to get their campaign back on track against the Group A leaders at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
Ahead of the cricual showdown, The 24-year-old Boavista left-back is expected to play a pivotal role against the Elephants and he is confident that the Super Eagles can get a positive result.
“The next game is going to be a bit difficult because they’re the host nation and are one of the favourites to get a good result but this is Nigeria we are talking about,” Bruno told journalists on Tuesday.
“Nigeria is a great country and we have lots of quality players in the team. Right now, we are really focused and working together to get a good result and I can assure everyone that the team will perform better against Cote D’Ivoire.
“We are focussed on the game to win and not to get a draw. All I can assure Nigerians back home is to keep supporting us and sending the positive vibes to ensure the team gets a good result on Thursday.”
