Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has confirmed his readiness to step up and lead the Super Eagles’ attack against Libya in the absence of injured star Victor Osimhen.

With Osimhen ruled out for the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, Boniface is one of three forwards in camp, alongside Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho, who are all vying for the starting role.

While any of the three could take the lead, Boniface has emerged as a favorite for the position. However, the Bayer Leverkusen striker has insisted that he is not feeling any added pressure.

“I don’t feel any pressure. It’s not just me; we have other strikers, Kelechi, Awoniyi, and myself. If I play, or any of us play, we will try to get the win,” Boniface told Football Fans Tribe.

He emphasized that team success is his top priority. “For me, the most important thing is the team’s performance. If we are winning and I’m not scoring, then I don’t have any problem. Whatever people want to say, they should say it, but as long as we are getting the win, then it’s fine by me.”

The Super Eagles will face Libya at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, with the return leg scheduled for Tuesday in Benina.
