African Games 2023: Yussif Basigi ecstatic over Black Princesses’ triumph over Nigeria

Yussif Basigi, the head coach of Ghana’s U20 team, the Black Princesses, has expressed his delight following his side’s remarkable victory against Nigeria in the final of the women’s football category at the Africa Games.

The Black Princesses staged a remarkable comeback from a goal down to clinch victory over the Super Falconets in extra time, securing the title on home soil.

Basigi commended his team’s resilience and determination, highlighting their refusal to give up even when facing adversity during the game.

“I’m incredibly proud of this team. Their unwavering belief, even when facing setbacks, was truly commendable,” Basigi remarked in a press statement following the game.

“Securing victory in a final of this magnitude, especially in front of our home supporters, is an indescribable feeling. These young players have shown that they are champions in every sense of the word.”

Under Basigi’s guidance, the Black Princesses have displayed remarkable form, securing 15 wins and two draws since his appointment as head coach last year.

The triumph against Nigeria serves as a testament to Basigi’s coaching prowess and the exceptional talent within the Black Princesses squad, cementing their status as deserving champions of the Africa Games women’s football category.
