Ahmed Musa’s Clinical Strike Propels Leicester City in Carabao Cup Victory

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa showcased his scoring prowess, netting his first goal of the season during his start for Leicester City in Tuesday’s impressive 4-1 triumph over newly promoted Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup second round clash at Bramall Lane.

Musa, who is set to feature for Nigeria in the forthcoming 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon, secured a resounding win for the Foxes in stoppage time, capping off a commanding performance. His goal followed a brace from Islam Slimani and a strike from Demarai Gray, which had already established a 3-0 lead for Leicester City.

Meanwhile, compatriot Wilfred Ndidi, a key figure in the midfield for Nigeria, played for 77 minutes in the match against the reigning African champions. Notably, Kelechi Iheanacho, who recently returned to training after a toe injury, was absent from the squad.

In other Carabao Cup action, Ola Aina did not feature in the matchday squad for Hull City, who were eliminated from the competition by hosts Doncaster Rovers in a 2-0 defeat. Aina, on loan from Chelsea, has made three English Championship appearances for the club since his arrival.

Sone Aluko’s Fulham were also knocked out of the competition after Bristol Rovers secured a 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage. While Aluko was not included in the squad, Sheyi Ojo played the full match.

In the Premier Soccer League in South Africa, Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, was not part of Chippa United’s squad that secured a 2-0 victory over Amazulu on Tuesday. His compatriot, James Okuowsa, featured in the encounter.
