In recognition of Ibom Angels’ recent promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, the state government has significantly enhanced their support.
In a gesture of appreciation, Executive Governor Umo Eno has gifted the team a new coaster bus and donated 20 million Naira in recognition of their achievement. Governor Eno made the announcement while celebrating the state’s youth at the Uyo Township Stadium on Tuesday.
The Orange Ladies secured their promotion with a decisive 2-0 victory over Osun Babes at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, Cross Rivers State, on Sunday.
This win guaranteed them one of the two available slots in Nigeria’s top women’s football league. They accomplished this with an impressive perfect record of five wins from five games.
Ibom Angels topped Group B1 with a maximum of 12 points from four games, having defeated Unification FC, Delta Babes, Papa Soccer Angels, and Chosen Generation.
They then triumphed in the promotion playoffs, overcoming the high-scoring Omoluabi Ladies 2-0 to secure their return to the Premiership.
With their promotion confirmed, Ibom Angels’ next objective is to solidify their position in the NWFL Premiership for the upcoming 2024/2025 season.
