NPFL: Usman Abdallah praises Kano Pillars’ fighting spirit against Ikorodu City
By Saheed Afolabi
Kano Pillars’ head coach, Usman Abdallah, has praised his team’s tenacity following their commanding 3-0 win over Ikorodu City.
Rabiu Alli scored twice, and Mustapha Umar added another goal to secure the victory and hand Ikorodu City their first defeat of the season.
Despite the absence of several key players due to fitness issues, Abdallah was impressed with the performance of his squad.
“I’m very pleased with the team’s effort and resilience,” Abdallah said.
“We’re still in the early stages of the season, and some of our players are not yet fully match fit. Nonetheless, the team delivered a spirited performance.”
The match was particularly challenging as it was played at a neutral venue, Katsina Stadium, which Kano Pillars is using as their home ground this season.
Abdallah acknowledged the difficulty of starting the season away from their usual home but commended his players for their determination and adaptability.
“It’s never easy playing your first home match of the season on neutral ground,” Abdallah continued. “But the boys demonstrated great resilience and commitment.”
