Al-Hassan Yusuf wins historic Belgian Pro-League title with Royal Antwerp

It was a dramatic end of the season in Belgium as Al-Hassan Yusuf’s Royal Antwerp claimed the Belgian Pro League  with a last-minute Toby Alderweireld equalizer against Genk.
The Royal club needed just a point on the last day to be crowned champions and ex-Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld scored an incredible goal in stoppage time to win the title for his boyhood club.
The Reds were trailing by two goals to one going into extra time, while USG were losing to Club Brugge in the other fixture of the day.
Both results at that stage meant that Genk would be crowned champions of the 2022/23 season.
In the 88th minute — Union were champions, but a minute later swung in favour of Genk but on the 94th minute — Antwerp late breakthrough eventually won them the championship crown.
On the day, Arokodare put Genk in front before Antwerp equalized. Genk’s lead was restored with 15 minutes to play as they look poised for the title.
With time running out, Alderweireld changed the direction of the championship title with a vicious swing of his right foot as the ball fell to his feet on the edge of the area, and former Belgium international rifled the ball into the top corner to secure a 2-2 draw for the home side.
The goal helped Al-Hassan’s Antwerp to their first top-division league title in 66 years as they last won the it in 1957.
