Arsenal’s Iwobi Aims for Top Four EPL Finish Following Disappointing Previous Season

In the wake of an underwhelming performance last season, Arsenal forward and Super Eagles standout, Alex Iwobi, is determined to propel his team to a top-four finish in the Premier League this season. The North London club, led by manager Arsene Wenger since 1996, experienced an unusual setback last year, finishing fifth and consequently missing out on a coveted spot in the UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal’s current league standing, fifth with 13 points, sees them trailing leaders Manchester City by six points. Iwobi, whose recent goal secured Nigeria’s place in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, expressed the team’s collective frustration at missing out on Champions League action this season.

In an interview with The Sun, Iwobi emphasized the importance of consistency for Arsenal’s success. “We have to be consistent, to end up in the top four, top six,” he stated, adding, “Hopefully top four because we are disappointed not to be in the Champions League. So we have to be consistent and do well. We’ll see where we end up at the end of the season.”

The Nigerian forward is slated to make a return to Arsenal’s lineup after the international break, featuring in the clash against Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday. Iwobi’s impactful performance, marked by a goal, was instrumental in Arsenal’s recent 2-0 victory over newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion just before the international hiatus.

As the Gunners aim for a resurgence, Iwobi’s determination and focus on consistency could be the driving force behind their quest for a coveted top-four finish in the Premier League.
