Asisat Oshoala makes scoring start in 2024 as Barcelona thrash Levante Las Planas

Nigeria forward, Asisat Oshoala scored her first goal during her first league game of 2024 for Barcelona as the Spanish champions thrashed Levante Las Planas 9-1 in Spanish topfight encounter on Saturday.

It took five minutes for the European Champions to break the deadlock thanks to Salma Paralluelo.

Mariona Caldentey doubled the lead in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot.

Five minutes later, Ballon d’Or winner, Aitana Bonmati made it 3-0 from Caroline Graham Hansen’s assist.

Hansen got on the goal scorers sheet with four minutes before the end of the first half.

With four goals in the bag in the first half, the Spanish champions continued the scoring spree as Claudia Pina converted their fifth goal.

Patricia Guijarro scored the sixth goal of the game for the Catalan side before the visitors reduced the deficit thanks to a goal from Alegra Poljak in the 63rd minute.

Goals from Vicky Lopez and Guijarro’s second of the game made it 8-1.

Oshoala rounded up the goals with the ninth goal of the game for her team in the additional minutes of the second half.

The 2023 Africa Women’s Player of the Year winner replaced Esme Brugt in the 64th minute before scoring her sixth league goal of the season.

Jonatan Giraldez’s side tops the log with 39 points after 13 league games.
