Reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala is a subject of strong interest from Women Super League, WSL side, Manchester United.
The Super Falcons’ forward was close to agreeing deal with the Red Devils in 2022 before Barcelona snapped her up in a more lucrative deal.
A source close to the United indicated that the Old Trafford side are planning to strengthen their attacking department with the signing of Six times African Women’s Footballer of the Year winner.
United’s decision to show interest in Oshoala was a result of injury suffered by their first striking option, Kerolin Nicoli of North Carolina Courage FC.
Manchester United sit seven points adrift of first-placed Chelsea in the Women’s Super League at the moment and the signing of the Nigerian star could enhance their chances of closing the gap between them and the table toppers.
Oshoala has previously played in England with Arsenal and Liverpool, thus settling down might not be an issue for the world-class forward.
However, Manchester United will be faced with the hurdle of convincing Barcelona to sell her having been a pivotal player in the club.
Since joining the Spanish champions in 2019, she has played 108 games in the Primera División Femenina and has 92 goals to her name.
