“Ballon d’Or is a dream” — Bukayo Saka focused on Arsenal win vs Real Madrid

By Monsurah Olatunji

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has revealed that while winning the Ballon d’Or remains a long-term dream, his primary focus is on securing collective success with his team.

The 23-year-old winger, who is one of the top talents in world football, spoke candidly about his aspirations ahead of Arsenal’s crucial Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Saka, who has recently returned from a three-month injury layoff due to a hamstring problem, is seen as a key figure for Arsenal’s Champions League ambitions. His comeback saw him score as a substitute in his first match back, helping Arsenal secure a win over Fulham, and he made another appearance from the bench in the recent 1-1 draw against Everton.

With many expecting Saka to start against Real Madrid, his return is a significant boost for the Gunners as they look to advance in Europe’s top club competition.

In a pre-match press conference, Saka acknowledged that while he dreams of winning the prestigious Ballon d’Or, individual awards are secondary to the team’s success.

“The Ballon d’Or is a dream, but my focus is on winning titles at Arsenal,” Saka said.

“I’m just working hard to do the best for my team. Any individual awards that come, I’ll accept them.”

Saka’s best Ballon d’Or finish was 21st, but with Arsenal’s current form and their pursuit of their first-ever Champions League trophy, the winger’s chances of achieving a higher ranking could increase significantly.

Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Real Madrid is a pivotal moment in their season, and Saka’s contributions will be crucial if the Gunners are to take another step towards European glory.
