“Bear with us, we will bounce back” – Kwara United beg fans after poor NPFL start

By Wale Mustapha
Kwara United have issued an apology to their dedicated fans following a disappointing start to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, marked by a home defeat to Niger Tornadoes on Sunday.
The Harmony Boys were beaten 1-2 at home by the Ikon Allah Boys in their opening fixture. Despite a strong start, Kwara United fell behind to a first-half goal from Joseph Godstime.
Seidu Ibrahim extended the visitors’ lead with a powerful shot from outside the box. Although Sadeeq Yusuf pulled one back for the hosts with a late goal, it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.
Badawiy Bashir, General Manager of Kwara United, attributed the loss to a combination of bad luck and the anxiety of a young squad, assuring fans that the team would regroup and make necessary adjustments for upcoming matches.
“We sincerely apologize for the loss; it was not the start we had envisioned for the season,” Bashir stated.
“This is a young team with a strong desire to grow and fight for the badge. We are working to ensure they blend well with the experienced players.”
Bashir encouraged fans to remain patient, expressing confidence in the team’s potential.
“We ask for your continued support and patience. I believe in the quality of this team, and we will bounce back stronger,” he added.
Kwara United will face Elkanemi Warriors in their next match of the season, set to take place in Maiduguri.
