Benue Governor Ortom approves N243 million to give Aper Aku Stadium’s facelift

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has approved over 200 million for the installation of new turf at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi to meet the international taste.
On Friday, Governor Ortom gave the approval at the emergency executive council meeting held at the Government House in Makurdi.
Benue State’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Michael Inalegwu confirmed that the meeting that the work on the stadium will also include given a face lift to other facilities and structures.
“We had two way contractual obligations; one to Momimichelle Sporting Facility Construction Limited which laid the astro turf who was chosen because of their expertise,” Inalegwu told media.
“The other renovation on the Stadium will be done by direct labour, and the sum of 65 million was approved to the Ministry of Youths and Sports to cut costs.
Mr. Inalegwu also announced that for complete renovation of the McCarthy Stadium to make provision for offices of the club officials, accommodation for players, the council has approved 73 million.
He said the State Government is giving the contractors not less than two and half months to finish work on the playing turf. Lobi Stars are currently using New Jos Stadium in Plateau State as their home venue.
The Pride of Benue club have garnered 16 points from eight games in Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL putting them top of the Group B table.
