Blow for Nigeria as Noni Madueke sets for England debut at Nations League

Nigeria faces a significant setback as Chelsea winger Noni Madueke is set to make his debut for England in the UEFA Nations League.

Madueke, who has been in outstanding form this season, has been included in Lee Carsley’s squad for the upcoming doubleheader against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Madueke, born to a Nigerian father and a Dutch mother in England, has scored four goals for Chelsea this season, including a hat-trick against Wolves last weekend.

His inclusion in the England squad means that if he plays in either of the Nations League matches, he will be ineligible to represent the Super Eagles at the international level.

This development reduces Nigeria’s hopes of having Madueke, who has been a target for the Super Eagles, join their ranks in the future.
