CAF clears Wilfred Ndidi for Super Eagles’ Playoff clash against DR Congo

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

CAF has officially cleared Wilfred Ndidi to feature for the Nigeria’s senior men’s national team in Sunday’s high-stakes World Cup playoff against DR Congo.

The decision confirms that yellow cards accumulated during the World Cup qualifying rounds do not carry over into the playoff stage.

Only players with existing suspensions are ineligible — a clarification that frees Ndidi for selection.

The ruling comes as a major boost for Super Eagles, with the midfielder expected to play a key role as the Nigeria push for a spot on the world stage.

The winner of Sunday’s clash will flag Africa’s flag at Inter-continental Playoffs which two World Cup tickets up for grabs.

The three time African champions thrashed Gabon 4-1 in the semi final of Africa Playoffs after extra time on Thursday.

DR Congo on the other hand edged Cameroon 1-0.
