CAF Confederation Cup: Kwara United’s Tunde Sanni promises fierce battle against Kotoko

By Wale Mustapha

Kwara United head coach Kabiru Sanni says his side will give no quarter when they face Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first-leg clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Harmony Boys return to continental competition after clinching their first-ever President’s Federation Cup title last season.

They arrived in Accra on Friday aboard Ibom Air determined to write a new chapter in the club’s history.

“This is our time to show the continent what we’re made of. These players are hungry and want to make a name for themselves,” Sanni told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“There’s little information about Kotoko, but our focus is on ourselves and how we translate our training into the match.”

The Ilorin-based side warmed up for the tie with a hard-fought goalless draw away to Warri Wolves, a result Sanni described as ideal preparation.

“We kept a clean sheet against a side that’s tough at home — that builds the mentality we need,” he said.

Sunday’s showdown, scheduled for 4pm local time, is set to serve up a fiery West African derby as Kwara United — seen as underdogs — test themselves against Kotoko’s storied Porcupine Warriors.
