By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
The CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash between Nigerian Champions, Rivers United and DC Motema Pembe of Congo originally slated to hold on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, now has a new date.
The game will now be played on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, at 3:00 pm following the failure of the Congolese side to arrive in city venue on Wednesday.
Paul Acquah was the hero last term as his solitary strike was enough to ensure the Pride of Rivers picked maximum points at the Estádio 11 de Novembro stadium in Talatona (near Luanda), Angola on 26th February 2023.
DC Motema Pembe’s Coach Hamadou Sampo has a virtually fully-fit squad to pick from with Joslin Liwanda Ndongala missing with a left tibia injury.
This will be only the second meeting between both sides in any competitive game. DC Motema Pembe are yet to score a single in 270 minutes of the ongoing campaign.
Stanley Eguma’s side will hope to return to the top of the table after Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast picked a 1-0 win away from home against Diables Noirs of Congo on Wednesday.
The Ivorian side tops the log with seven points ahead of Rivers United (6 points), Diales Noir (4 points), and Motema Pembe (2 points).
