Cameroon Legends led by former star and President of Federation of Cameroon Football (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o secured a 3-1 win against Nigerian legends in an exhibition match on Thursday at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium, Cameroon.

The novelty match between the players of both countries that played in the Year 2000 African Nations Cup co-hosted by Nigeria and Ghana saw Cameroon repeating the feat of 2000.

The host had to come from behind after Julius Agahowa gave Nigeria the lead.

Bernard Tchoutang, Ndip Tambe, and Samuel Etoo were the three scorers for the Cameroon Legends.

In 2000, Indomitable Lionesses defeated Super Eagles 4-2 on penalties in the final of that year’s AFCON in Lagos.

The first goal was scored after a foul on Patrick Mboma which led to a free kick that was utilized by Samuel Eto’o in the 26th minute.

In the 31st minute, Mboma capitalized on a through pass from Eto’o to double the lead, nutmegging Nigerian goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu in the process.

Surprise selection, Raphael Chukwu Ndukwe placed a low-level shot at the back of the net to reduce the deficit to one before halftime.

Then Austin Jay Jay Okocha scored a long-range shot to even the scoreline.

The game was eventually decided on penalties with Cameroon emerging victorious.
