Chiamaka Nnadozie: Nigeria and Paris goalkeeper gets French D1 Arkema nomination

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie for the second consecutive season has been nominated French women’s top-flight goalkeeper of the season.

The Super Falcons save hands will battle it out with two other goalies for the prize as she will fancy her chances against Lyon’s Christiane Endler and Le Havre’s Laetitia Philipe in the race to clinch the best goalkeeper award prize.

The former Rivers Angels goalie has had a stellar career with the capital city-based club since her arrival ahead of the 2020/2021 season in January 2020, having entered a new three-year deal after seeing out an 18-month deal.

The 22-year-old shotstopper has kept 11 clean sheets in 19 league games this season to help Paris FC’s charge to qualify for the UEFA Women’s Champions League as they currently sit in the Uefa Women’s Champions League place in the third position with 36 points, a point better than Fleury.

Nnadozie signed for Rivers Angels at the start of the 2016 season and eventually inspired the Port Harcourt outfit to title success in the 2019/2020 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season campaign.

As Nigeria’s starting goalkeeper in the team’s 2-0 victory over Korea at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nnadozie became the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the World Cup before she won African Games.
