Chiamaka Nnadozie relishes WSL move after Brighton breakthrough

Chiamaka Nnadozie’s dream of playing in England finally came true this summer, with the Nigerian goalkeeper completing a move to Brighton & Hove Albion after five successful years at Paris FC.
The 24-year-old, who experienced Champions League football during her time in France, admitted she had come close to joining the Women’s Super League (WSL) last season but opted to honour her contract, with Paris FC reluctant to let her go.
“I thought my opportunity to play in the WSL was gone until Brighton came calling,” Nnadozie told the BBC.
“It was a feeling of joy for me and my family. They kept asking me questions. They didn’t really understand where Brighton was until I told them it was in the UK.
“It has always been my dream to play in England. Moving to Brighton is a special one. From the first time they came knocking, I knew they were the one.”
Nnadozie has already made her mark in England. She was named Player of the Match on her debut after keeping a clean sheet in Brighton’s 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, pulling off four key saves.
“I know I’m up to the task and ready to go,” she said in the run-up to the game.
“I’ve got good team-mates, good coaches and everyone in the team is so welcoming. They will help me a lot to fit into the game and everything [in England].
Despite her promising start, the Nigerian insists she is taking things step by step
“I want to learn and to grow. I’m not there yet. I just want to give myself time. I don’t want to rush things.”
From Rivers Angels to Paris FC and now Brighton, Nnadozie is living her dream of gradually becoming one of the best save hands in the world.
