Christopher Danjuma targets President Federation Cup title after win over Edo Queens

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The head coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Christopher Danjuma, is hoping to win the 2025 President Federation Cup as a solace after narrowly missing out on the league title.

They secured a place in the final with a 2-0 win over Edo Queens in Ayingba on Saturday.

This came after the same opponents denied them the chance to win the league title.

“Life is a path to be navigated. In your navigation, at each stage, there are twists and turns. A couple of days back, we missed out on going to the continent,” Danjuma said after the match.

The Nigeria women’s U-20 national team coach opened up on the tonic that psyche the players up after the league disappointment.

“As painful as it is, we have to gather ourselves to say there is something to play for. The win is undescribable,” He added.

“If you don’t create chances, you don’t win games. We had the target of creating chances in each half, especially after every seven minutes.

“If you create chances and take two at our level. We couldn’t take some chances in the first half, but when we came back in the second half, we took some of the chances, and everyone was happy.”

Second-half goals from Ayatsea Hembafan and Bibiana Odoh ensured that the Lafia-based side will face holders Rivers Angels in the grand finale.

“The greatest defeat for a man is when you begrudge before you do anything. There is no room for grudges. It’s a game. It happened that in the Super Six, we couldn’t pass them to get the Cup.

“Now we have to come to this match with a clear and clean mind with course to go over Edo Queens to get to the final.

“There is one more game to be played this year to cap this season and it is what we believe God for that our season can not be done empty. In the final, we want to make the state and everyone proud and improve on our CV because it is our profession. This can be done by winning the trophy.” The gaffer concluded.
