Chuba Akpom returns Middleborough back to winning ways with 14th league goal

Eligible Nigeria striker, Chuba Akpom produced another Man of the Match performance on Saturday to help his side return to winning following a deserved 2-0 win over Watford.
The victory for Boro was made to banished the thoughts of their last weekend’s North East Derby defeat to Sunderland and also end a run of 10 games winless streak against the Hornets.
After opening half hour of dominance for the hosts, it was Watford that went close to record the first goal of the match when Matheus Martins’ effort flew harmlessly over the bar from a well wormed build up.
Watford were made to pay for that missed chance moments later as Boro attacked in numbers to see the final ball meets Akpom is a good position to head home his 14th league goal of the season.
Boro would then made thins worse for Watford with the second goal coming in the added minutes of first half Marcus Forss rounded goalkeeper Bachmann.
Watford manager, Slaven Bilic rang his team in the second half with more fresh legs in the attack but were not enough to stage a comeback in the match.
Boro held on to see the game out and had a chance to leapfrogged Watford into third position on the log.
