Confluence Queens’ Whyte Ogbonda warns against complacency in NWFL Super Six race
By Wale Mustapha
Whyte Ogbonda, Technical Adviser of Confluence Queens has warmed his players not to get carried away following a hard fought 2-1 win at Abia Angels in a Nigeria Women Football League encounter in Umuahia on Wednesday.
Goals from Chinenye Emenike and Peter Martha put the Lokoja based queens in the driving seat for most part of the game and rendered a late goal from Angels a mere consolation. The victory which has sent Confluence Queens to the summit of the Group B log has also stretched their unbeaten run in the women’s football topflight to eight.
The excited former Ibom Angels gaffer urged his players to keep up their best and remain committed in the two remaining games that will see his side qualify for title winning Super Six playoffs.
“I want to really appreciate my players for the efforts they have put in so far, eight games unbeaten run worth commending but now it’s very dangerous to get carried away,” Ogbonda told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“The main job is our next home match against Nasarawa Amazons, it’s a game that will decide our Super Six fate and we to be fully focused and be ready to give it all,”
Confluence Queens will be hosting Nasarawa Amazons in their last home fixture of the regular season in Lokoja on Wednesday, 12th April, 2023 and only a draw against the Solid Miners will guarantee their Super Six qualification.
