Dannaz Ladies claim historic Lagos FA Cup title

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Dannaz Ladies, edged Unification Ladies 1-0 to win their first-ever Lagos FA Cup title on Sunday.
Omotoke Ogunfuwa’s second-half penalty separated both sides after 90 minutes of a keenly contested grande finale.
Ogunfuwa converted a second-half penalty after a foul inside the box by Unification Ladies.
Unification Ladies, which plays in the second tier NWFL Championship, were underdogs ahead of Sunday’s final with slim chances despite upsetting record champions, FC Robo Queens, on penalties in the semi-final.
They tried to get the equalizer after going behind, but efforts were futile as Dannaz Ladies clinched their maiden Lagos State FA Cup trophy.
The two finalists will represent Lagos State at the 2025 President Federation Cup.
It will be an emotional return to the competition for Dannaz Ladies, which had an auto accident while prosecuting their first game last year, ending their campaign abruptly.
Unification Ladies will be making their debut at the President Federation Cup.
