Kwara United goalkeeper, Dele Ayenugba is confident that his team can get a favourable result away against CAF Confederation Cup holders, RS Berkane.
The Nigeria side holds a 3-1 advantage ahead of the return leg next week in Berkane.
“From the onset when I was with Enyimba I observed that the North African sides know how to play away games. When one gets to their home, you will give them more pressure in their home ground. They are a very technical side,” Ayenugba posited in a monitored interview by Nigeriafootball.ng on Sports Radio Brila FM this week.
The two-time CAF Champions League winner with Enyimba International FC in 2003 and 2004 asserted that Kwara United’s main aim is to avoid defeat in Morocco.
He said: “With our 3-1 home win, we will try to go there with the aim of getting a good result. We are going to Morocco to avoid defeat and see if we can get another win and make things difficult for them in their home ground.”
Kwara United is Nigeria’s sole representative in the 2022/2023 CAF Confederation Cup after the ouster of Remo Stars to another Moroccan side, ASFAR FC.
The team will hope to upset 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup Champions and CAF Super Cup winner, RS Berkane after the return leg next weekend in Morocco.
Dele Ayenugba alongside Vincent Enyeama in 2003 masterminded Enyimba’s successful triumph in the CAF Champions League, becoming the first Nigerian side to win the elusive title.
The following season (2004), Dele Ayenugba was behind the sticks as the People’s Elephant retained the CAF Champions League title.
