Doma edge Akwa in battle of Uniteds with slim win in Gombe

A goal from Nelson Abiam handed Doma United a slender 1-0 win over miserable Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Saturday.
The encounter decided at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe was supposed to see Doma United consolidate on their last weekend Savannah derby victory over city rivals, Gombe United.
The Tigers did managed to grind out a victory against Coach Fatai Osho led side who were unfortunate with the defeat having created numerous chances to get back into the game.
The likes of Uche Collins, Mubarak Said, Kufre Effiong and Ubong Essien all had their moments to bring the visitors back on level terms.
The worse start to the season continues for Akwa who have failed to keep the promises haven able to register just a win from eight games.
They are now in the red zone (17th) with just seven points from eight games and will be hosting Remo Stars in their next game.
Doma United on the other hand are seventh of the table with 11 points from seven games.
