Bendel Insurance player, Ebenezer Odeyemi says he felt betrayed by Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan.
The journeyman joined Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Shooting Stars ahead of Sunshine Stars in the former bid to gain promotion to the top flight NPFL from the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL).
“I felt betrayed because that was the team I betrayed Sunshine Stars for that season,” Ebenezer Odeyemi told Brila FM.
“I was supposed to join Sunshine Stars but they kept the pressure on me to join them so that they can gain promotion to the NPFL from the Super 8 which I later had to betray coach Ayeni.
“I didn’t expect what happened to me at Shooting Stars to happen that way because I thought that I was giving them my best until I was dropped. What I learned from the scenario was that whatever God wants for any human being no matter what one does. Just allow God’s will to be done.”
Odeyemi made an impactful outing with Bendel Insurance as their side emerged as NNL Champions at the just concluded NNL Super 4 in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State last weekend, recounted his ordeals with the Ibadan outfit.
“I felt so betrayed by what they did to me at Shooting Stars and didn’t believe such a thing will happen to me but I give God the glory. I kept moving one and I had to move on,” Odeyemi concluded.
Odeyemi and Insurance will now shift focus on the 2022/2023 NPFL season after the team alongside Bayelsa United, Doma United, and El Kanemi Warriors gained promotion to the NPFL.
