Ebere Eze on target as Joe Aribo returns to Southampton lineup in Crystal Palace win

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria hot-prospect, Eberechi Eze was on target twice as Crystal Palace secured a 2-0 away win over Southampton to claim their first three-game winning streak since March 2020.
The Saints started on a high as Joe Aribo returned to the starting lineup and was closed to breaking the deadlock after receiving James Ward-Prowse’s corner kick but his rifled shot from close range slightly missed the target.
However, it was the visitors that found the net when Michael Olise thought he had given the visitors a 15th-minute lead, but it was ruled out for offside.
Six minutes before the hour mark, Eze did well to pounce on a Jordan Ayew rebound effort to strike home past goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.
The Super Eagles-eligible added his second just 14 minutes later, as he collected a pass from Cheick Doucoure and danced away from two defenders before unleashing a shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
Eze has featured for the England U20 and U21 teams but he is still eligible to play for the Nigeria national team.
The result moves Palace on to 36 points, a healthy nine clear of the relegation zone.
