Enugu Rangers Hit with ₦4m Fine, Stadium Ban Over NPFL Rule Breaches

Enugu Rangers have been charged for breaching the Nigeria Premier Football League Framework Rules following their home fixture against Barau FC on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, which led to unauthorized individuals gaining access to restricted areas. In addition, Rangers officials were found guilty of conduct capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

Supporter behavior also came under scrutiny, as the club failed to ensure proper fan conduct. This lapse resulted in the harassment of match officials, with fans engaging in gross misconduct that undermines the integrity of the league.

As a result, Enugu Rangers have been handed a total fine of ₦4 million. The breakdown includes ₦1 million for inadequate security, ₦1 million for encroachment onto the field of play, ₦1 million for unsporting conduct by club officials, and ₦1 million for failing to control supporters.

Additionally, the Enugu-based side will play their remaining two home matches behind closed doors.

The club has been given 48 hours from the date of notification to file an appeal against the sanctions.
