Enyimba striker, Brown Ideye, has backed Remo Stars to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title this season, stating that the Sky Blues Stars are in a strong position to secure their first-ever league crown.
Remo Stars are currently leading the NPFL table with 57 points from 29 matches, eight points ahead of second-placed Rivers United.
Coach Daniel Ogunmodede’s side has finished as runners-up in the past two seasons and is now poised to take the next step toward securing the title.
With just nine games left in the season, Ideye, who previously won the league diadem with Ocean Boys, believes the title race is Remo Stars’ to lose, though he acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football.
“In my opinion, Remo Stars have the best chance of winning the league, but football is unpredictable. The title is theirs to lose,” Ideye said in an interview with BSN Sports.
The former West Bromwich Albion forward also expressed optimism for Enyimba’s continental aspirations.
“For Enyimba, securing a continental spot is achievable. If we win all our remaining home games and get good results away, I believe we can return to the continent.”
