Yemi Olanrewaju, Assistant Coach of Enyimba FC, revealed the team’s primary objective for the current season is to retain the coveted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.
The People’s Elephants won the apex league diadem last season following their Super Six playoffs success in Lagos and are still in the race for the title this campaign haven being in the top four positions in the league table.
Despite a setback in the Abia State FA Cup final, where they fell to Abia Warriors in a penalty shootout, Olanrewaju remained optimistic, while lauding players for their outstanding efforts.
“It was a good game against Abia Warriors playing on this type of turf that we aren’t used to I give kudos to the boys,” he told the media.
“I’m impressed with the boys as we dominated and we could have scored more goals. Our focus is on the NPFL and the young players that featured in the state FA cup truly showed their qualities to compete in the first team.”
Enyimba will be hosting Kano Pillars in the Matchday 28 fixture of the NPFL in Aba on Wednesday.
