EXPLAINED: Why Nigerian artists failed to perform in World Cup opening ceremony

With few days to kickoff of the 2022 FIFA World Cup holding in Doha, Qatar, many Nigerians were enthusiastic that some of their music stars would perform at the opening ceremony of the global showpiece.
But come Sunday 20th of November, 2022, their hopes were dampened as they stayed glued to their TV set in anticipation to see top artistes like Kizz Daniel, Davido and Patoranking mount the stage with their latest tunes hut neither of them were seen on the podium.
Many Nigerians went berserk on social media with viral reactions asking FIFA and the Local Organizing Committee, LOC of the event what led to their unavailability.
However, it has now been clarified that the Nigerian singers were not billed to perform at the opening ceremony but at the official Fans Festival of the tournament.
It was learned that why the music stars were not slated to perform at the opening ceremony, but rather they would take to stage during the Fans Festival in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
According to the flyer relating to the Festivals recently surfaced online indicated that Kizz Daniel is set to perform at the carnival on Wednesday November 23, 2022, and Patoranking would perform on Monday 28th of November..
Unfortunately, the bereaved DMW boss, Davido, has been excused from the event as he continues to mourn the loss of his first son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, who died weeks ago.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria did not qualify for the FIFA World Cup already underway in Qatar after losing the playoffs to their West African rivals, Ghana.
