Fatai Osho makes shock Rivers United resignation after Confederation Cup quarterfinal berth

Rivers United chief coach Fatai Osho has resigned just few days after guiding them to the quarterfinal of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Osho joined the Pride of Rivers from Enyimba and helped the Port Harcourt side to clinch NPFL title during the 2021/2023 season, and also helped the team qualify to CAF club competition.
During his spell, the former Remo Stars and Enyimba gaffer enjoyed an illustrious season with the Nigeria Premier Football League side and progression the quarterfinal of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup for the first time.
This season, they are in contention to qualify for the 2023 NPFL Super Six but the tactician took to social media to announce that he has threw in the towel for unconfirmed reasons.
“I resigned my position as the Chief Coach of Remo Stars FC. Best wishes to the team,” Osho wrote on facebook.
Meanwhile, Rivers State Commissioner of Sports Chris Green has expressed shock at the development, claiming that he had no prior knowledge let alone of being inform about the resignation by the exiting tactician.
“I am yet to hear or get any official resignation letter from him,” the Rivers ministry boss told NigeriaFootball.ng.
Osho was appointed as Remo Stars FC coach in 2018 and guided the team to its first NPFL season, but got relegated after they finished bottom at the end of the season.
He also guided the Sky Blue Stars back to the NPFL immediately after spending one season in the NPFL but however resigned when Remo Stars appoints former Plateau Kennedy Boboye was appointed as the Technical consultant of Remo Stars.
Osho joined Enyimba as the assistant coach of the Peoples Elephant after his resignation as Remo Stars coach. He was appointed as the interim coach of Enyimba following Usman Abdallah’s dismissal before joining Rivers United.
