Fidelis Ilechukwu sets gaze on Nigeria Premier Football League title with Rangers

By Saheed Afolabi

Enugu Rangers coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, is confident that his team will secure the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title.

The Flying Antelopes currently lead the NPFL table with 64 points from 35 matches, establishing a five-point gap over second-placed Enyimba and Remo Stars.

Ilechukwu has consistently expressed optimism about Rangers’ chances of winning the league, acknowledging that the club is moving closer to achieving their target but emphasizes the importance of staying focused, particularly in their upcoming match against Shooting Stars.

“Before our game against Enyimba I said we were in contention for the league,” Ilechukwu told Sports Day.

“But as it stands now, we are etching closer and it’s only us that can stop ourselves.”

With three matches remaining, Ilechukwu is determined to maintain the team’s momentum and the former MFM handler insists the match against Shooting Stars will be treated with the same level of importance as every game and the players are well aware of what is at stake.

“We will approach our game against 3SC like every other game we’ve played,” he continued.

“The players know what is at stake but I don’t think they are under any pressure. We will play our normal game and hope for the best.”

Shooting Stars will be seeking a victory against Rangers to bolster their aspirations for continental football.
