Four Nigerians make 2023 WAFU-B U20 Women’s Cup Best XI

Four Nigeria players made the Wafu B U20 tournament best XI after having an exceptional tournament in Ghana.
Midfield maestro, Esther Onyenezide, prolific forward, Opeyemi Ajakaye, skillful forward, Flourish Sabastine and Chinyere Kalu made the list for the Wafu B U20 tournament XI.
The Super Falconets were defeated in the final by Ghana through penalty shootout after playing a 1-1 draw at regulation time.
The Falconets crushed Niger Republic 7-0 in the first game of the tournament, while Togo was put through the sword 6-0.
The Nigeria side wrapped up a flawless group outing by defeating Burkina Faso 3-0 in the last group game.
Following their qualification to the semifinal, the Falconets knocked out Neighbors, Benin Republic 3-0 to advance to the final.
Upon reaching the final, Nigeria conceded for the first time against Ghana and had to leave it late before equalizing in a tensed encounter.
The young Black Princesses came top in the penalty shootout to defeat the Falconets 3-1.
Despite the setback seen in the final, Ajakaye won the highest goal scorer award after scoring six goals in the tournament.
Nigeria goalkeeper, Anderlin Mgbeche got the highest number of clean sheets in the tournament with four games.
