By: Monsurah Olatunji

Premier League club side, Brentford celebrates their Super Eagles star, Frank Onyeka for a record-breaking AFCON tournament.
Onyeka entered Brentford’s record books after featuring for Nigeria in the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
The Bees were pleased to watch the Nigeria international take his place in the Super Eagles starting lineup in the competition’s title decider.
The midfielder becomes the first player in the club’s history to feature in a major tournament final.
Sadly, the Super Eagles suffered their first defeat in the Africa’s premier championship, losing 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire despite taking the lead through a fantastic William Troost-Ekong header in the first half.
“Frank Onyeka – the first Brentford player ever to feature in a major tournament final 🇳🇬
Proud ❤️” — the club posted on their official X page.
The Nigeria international will look to return to Brentford and help them get back to winning ways as they won only two of six games in all competitions while he was away.
